Industry Consulting

If you have questions about the business of academia, you’re not alone. Talking to colleagues and mentors can help, but they won’t always tell it to you straight. My candid inside perspective can help demystify publishing, hiring and the tenure process.

There are many things about academia that are not self-explanatory. What is a publisher looking for in a monograph? How might different types of publishing impact your career? What kinds of things should you expect in a job interview? How should you respond to referee reports or navigate conflicting feedback? If you have these types of questions, or anything else having to do with the job of being a scholar, I can help.

This work might include:

  • Discussing interview strategies for an academic job or even conducting a mock interview

  • Discussing your publishing program in relation to your career goals

  • Approaching the dreaded referee reports with confidence and cogency

  • Creating a strategy to approach office politics or navigating a mentor/mentee relationship.
